One down...

So the above mentioned pharmacy made good on some of the meds. Mister FedEx woke me up at 10am (hey, I worked late the night before) yesterday. I got PIO, baby asprin, prenatals, and a few other medications, basically everything but gonal-f, novarel, and lupron. So fine. You aren't as sucky as I thought. I was just in a mood. Boo.

The new pharmacy hadn't called me so I called them this morning to set it all up. Good news? They can deliver next Wednesday and don't need a signature in case mister fed ex gets to my door after I leave for work. He will leave it on my doorstep, which is pretty well hidden so yay for me :) the bad news? If they eff it up I may be screwed because they are closed Friday thru Monday for 4th of July. 4 days?? Really? That last time I got 4 days off was due to being cut open abdominally. So the employees there have a pretty good racket.

My company on the other hand screwed up my bonus check and only gave me half of what I was supposed to get. So we will see how long it takes to clear it up. I will just sit here and revel in the fact that my store was # 1 in the company for April, May, and most likely June. That and a dollar will get me a cup of coffee at starbucks. Oh wait, no it won't....

No meds yet

Dear Free.dom Pharmacy,

I want to thank you ever so much for calling me at 5 pm the evening before I was to receive my heat and time sensitive drugs to tell me that you are out of network for my insurance. Such care and understanding for your customers and knowing that we do in fact work and therefore need to make special arrangements to be home to receive such medications makes you stand out above the rest. Now that I need to completely rearrange my schedule next week to accomodate being home for the delivery man I want to let you know how happy I am with your timely service.

Also, since I'm not yet in the system at the new pharmacy they need to take 48 hours to get me in. Thank goodness I don't start my shots until the 6th!

So thank you from the bottom of my heart for thinking about me....

Yours truly,
Lucky Jones

P.S. Suck it. And I mean that in the nicest way possible...

Getting closer to IVF

I am finally getting really close to IVF. I feel it's not going to be postponed this time, like it was the last time. Last time I KNEW it wouldn't happen when it should have. I would be doing the retrieval this week and the transfer next week. Now I am waiting until the end of July for it all. It doesn't seem that far away.

I get my meds the day after tomorrow... I have never been more excited to get needles and vials!!!

I had an annual exam today and the Dr said everything looked fine, and she was anxious to see me again soon as an OB rather than a GYN.. Me too!!

In 2 weeks I will beging Lupron shots. 5-6 weeks will be the retreival. 5 days after that the transfer. Scared? Only that it won't work...

I think it will all become more real when I go in for my suppression check on July 16th....

Mmmmm farmers market....

I went to the Beaverton Farmers Market today. This is the first week they are open on another day other than Saturday, so I was pretty excited. For a total of $12 I got raspberries, strawberries, a huge monster sized romain lettuce head, snap peas, honey sticks, tomatoes, and broccoli. I was a little bummed that only a quarter of the vendors were there, so I missed out on things like bread, flavored honey sticks, and wine.

Then I went to Trader Joes, where a really adorable 23 year old boy flirts with me every time I go in. He actually stops whatever he is doing to say hello and make small talk - how cute is that?! Today he was checking and when I walked in he beamed a huge smile to me, then as another girl was ringing me, he stopped ringing his customer to say hello.

So it's nice to know that despite my crows feet, extra weight gain, and exhaustion that shows on my face I STILL GOT IT BABY!! Or he likes cougars....

Off to make a romaine lettuce salad with diced tomatoes, raspberries, sliced strawberries, feta cheese, drizzled with a homemade dressing of balsamic vinegar and mandarin oranges.... Try it, it's amazing :)

First day and trains

I had my first day at my new store yesterday and let me tell you, we rocked it. We had a better selling day than they've seen in months. Yay me :)

I'm on the train coming home (I decided to forego the city traffic. Quite nice!) and there's this lady talking to some guy about how Portland is unlike any other city because you can be whatever you want, do whatever you want, and dress however you want and no one bats an eye. Excuse me lady, have you ever been to San francisco, L.A., New York, or any other major city? I don't see a difference except for weather.

I called my insurance today to see if my meds were covered... Yep, it's included in the $10K max that I can spend on treatment :)

SUCCESS!

I also need a Pap and breast exam for my treatment and set my appointment up for next Wednesday. Which happens to also be my day off, PLUS Farmer's Market will be open that day. Yeah, totally unrelated, but I have been waiting for them to open during the week - they are only open Saturdays and I work so I can never go... until now :) So it's exciting to me.

I start at my new store Sunday. I am really nervous. It'll be ok, but it's like being the new kid at school, even though I'm the boss.

So it will be good......*deep breath*.....

IVF Class

Josh and I went to class last night. We were late :( I hit traffic while going to pick him up from work, hit traffic going downtown, then went to the wrong building. Luckily my nurse called me to find out where I was and told me the right building :)

My last class was only 4 couples, this one was an auditorium full of people. I was really surprised at that! I felt like I was back in college. They went through the process of IVF and everything. I say there listening, knowing and understanding what they were saying, then I had a sudden realization that every single woman in that room (except maybe the nurses and embryologist) knew what I was going through. They had days of crying, hope, and fear. They had each naively gone into TTC (like myself) and thought they would be pregnant within 6 months. They all had the realization that this wasn't happening without help from a doctor. And there I was, sitting there with them. I wonder if anyone else felt that way? Even though we didn't know eachother, we didn't talk to eachother, there was that sort of bond, that understanding, the knowing looks.

The nurse started talking about statistics and bluntly said "I wish I could tell you that every one of you will get pregnant, but the truth is you aren't." It was a harsh reality to the hope that IVF gives us. It was difficult to hear, but needed to be said.

I start Lupron around July 6th. ER will be around July 28th. Transfer 5 days after that. I hope anyway.....

Doin' the Pidgeon

Yesterday while in Seaside I saw a flight of pidgeons and it reminded me of a Sesame Street skit with Bert. I told Josh about it and he didn't remember it. So thanks to the magic of the iphone I youtubed it to show him. for the rest of the day he would "do the pidgeon" every once in a while... I know why I married him :)

I love this video.... even though you see Bert's legs and feet and puppets with feet have always kinda freaked me out.....

Going downtown....

So I was asked (told) to take over a store in downtown Portland.. It's a good thing because:

  • I get to go into a boutique-ey retail store. High end. Fancy schmancy. NOT factory/outlet.
  • I get to really work with the clients instead of selling last year's$9 tee shirts to 14 year olds.
  • I can take the MAX train to work. Nice!!
  • Much closer to my Dr's office
THE Cons:
  • I got comfortable at my store.
  • I will have a whole new staff. So new challenges.
  • I have been bonusing every month. It's difficult to do that at retail stores.
  • I am gonna miss my staff. Especially a couple of my managers. I can count on them for everything...

So it's a good thing overall. The manager there is taking my store. So it's a lateral move so no more $$$ She feel the same way. Happy for a change, happy for a job, but a little bit weirded out by it. The change is effective in a week....

On to IVF news. Well, no real news other than I go to my second class on Tuesday and I have a post-op visit Wednesday morning. I will find out then what day I start my suppression.

I am now comtemplating going to the beach today. It's a cold, blustery, rainy day, which Josh and I love.... one problem? Dogs have ear infections from the heat wave last week and ocean water will only make them worse... but they do have drops so I think we will risk it.... I can't miss an opportunity to relax and look at the ocean....

Pastry Puppets!

So I know some of you asked to see the pastry puppets that were commissioned by a lovely bakery owner... here they are!

Business Eclair, Coconut Cake Monster, Sassy Lemon Meringue Pie

She also bought Chip the Muffin :) Now if you will excuse me I need to make some monsters for another commission - my nephew Hunter requested them to have "one eye and sharp teeth". He also wants a cow with one eye. I think. Sometimes it's hard to understand what a 3 year old is trying to tell you over the phone :)

Gimme Gimme!

So who doesn't like giveaways? This one is a fab one:

BLISSFULLYDOMESTIC.COM

It'd sleek, adorable, includes 3G technology, and I love the design.... you seriously need to check it out. Also browse through the whole site, it's pretty fantastic.. I especially like "Healthful Bliss"...

Whew.. all done

I got home this morning at around 10:30 from my very minor surgery. It went well, I feel much better than expected with the exception of a little cramping and a small anesthesia-induced headache. But all in all happy its over and happy to be home.

The Dr found 3 polyps. AND he gave Josh pictures. I thought Josh was gonna puke at the sight of them but he did ok. I didn't see my Dr after the procedure, which is totally fine since it was not a huge deal and I will see him at post-op in a week or so. He also had a full day today, especially since this was last minute and he had to move his day around.

i remembered a whole lot more this time than last time. The anesthesiologist put this sedative in my iv which made my whole body tingle, esp my hair follicles. it was so weird, I didn't remember that from before. And the sleepy drugs didn't come into after I was in the OR, so I remember getting on the table and then I was out. I woke up very groggy, not wide awake llike before. part of that was most likely due to the fact I drove home from Seattle at 1am last night and got about 3 hours of sleep.

So it's done. I hope this is the last of the prep we need to do. I am ready to get this show on the road....

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, It's you all that get me through the tough times.

I'm still writing that children's book, and now that my laptop cord is officially repaired (thanks Erec!) I can get on with it.. I am hoping to have the manuscript done within a month and start shopping it.... I may be naive in thinking I can do it, but I can't not try, right??
